Comments Off on Rental Pressure

An Armadale mum and her young son applied to WA Charity Direct for rental assistance.  Due to recent unfortunate events, including post-traumatic stress from a home invasion has led the Mum to being unemployed and struggling to make rental payments.

WA Charity Direct has alleviated some of that stress, by paying a portion of the rent direct to the landlord.  This will ensure that the family continues to have somewhere to live, while the mum actively pursues employment.

Comments Off on Leg Therapy System

Rocky Bay referred a young man, who in his mid-twenties sustained a spinal cord injury in a swimming accident to WA Charity Direct.  The referral was for a Motomed Leg Movement Therapy system  which is specially designed to assist individuals who have movement difficulties.  The Motomed System has a specialised leg cycle which helps to reduce spasms and moves the legs to promote flexibility in the joints, muscles & surrounding soft tissues. The use of the therapy system can also contribute to reducing the risk of blood clots.

The convenience of having a system set up in the home will help with the Recipient’s goal of maintaining his health and independence.

Comments Off on Multi Sensory Help

Through Rocky Bay, WA Charity Direct learnt of a local Family who required assistance with the setup of a sensory room for their twins boys .  Both boys who have been diagnosed with Autism and other intellectual disabilities require constant supervision as they often engage in unsafe behaviour.  The boys demonstrate significant sensory seeking behaviour which unfortunately is often unsafe and a danger to their wellbeing.

WA Charity Direct has assisted with a set up of a sensory room in the home.  This will allow the twins to engage with a range of developmental appropriate toys and play equipment to meet their sensory needs within a safe environment.
