Comments Off on Mum’s Emergency Relief Fund

Women & Infants Research Foundation (WIRF) is the independent research institution & charity based at King Edward Memorial Hospital.  WIRF  highlighted the desperate situation some families find themselves in when an emergency health issue presents during pregnancy.

WA Charity Direct are happy to provide emergency relief to Mums whose lives have been thrown into disarray through serious health issues relating to their pregnancy. Pregnant women often arrive in Perth in emergency situations needing healthcare for themselves or sick newborns for several weeks and sometimes months. This fund supports disadvantaged families by helping to alleviate some of the financial burdens/worries experienced in being away from home. The fund can help by providing  short term accommodation allowing families to be together in a time of crisis, assistance with travel costs, food and urgent clothing/baby equipment.

Comments Off on Safe Play

Callum Linnell is a young boy diagonised with High Functioning Autism & Attention Deficit Disorder.  Callum finds most daily activities a challenge, but finds comfort in the enjoyment of playing outside, though requires constant supervision as he has no sense of danger.  WA Charity Direct funded the installation of lockable gates to the home carport, which has given Callum the freedom to play outside safely.

Callum’s Parents are extremely grateful with this message of thanks:

“I know our request was quite a strange one, but any parent with a child on the spectrum will tell you they live in constant fear of a traffic accident due to poor road awareness and a tendency to lose focus. We cannot express how important it was for us to have these gates installed and we certainly could not have found the money ourselves.

We can rest easy knowing that Callum is safe whilst at home. We would like to send a great big thank you and commend the fantastic work WA Charity Direct do for the community. I think the gates turned out very well and are super sturdy.” – Linnell Family, January 2016.

Comments Off on Von Bergheim Family

Noah is a young boy with a diagnoses of Lissencephaly and Epilepsy.  Noah is completely dependant on his parents for all elements of self care.

On referral by Therapy Focus, WA Charity Direct provided the final funds for the family to purchase and modify a vehicle for wheelchair accessibility.  Having access to such a vehicle has enabled Noah to be safely transported to and from school each day, as well as security when attending medical and community appointments.

The Von Bergheim Family are grateful for the support with this message of thanks:

We did it! Thanks to the generosity of your organisation and fourteen months of fundraising we now have the wheelchair modified vehicle that will help our son Noah (and just as importantly his Mum, Belinda) immeasurably through the next 10 years.  The funds WA Charity Direct provided saved us another 9 – 12 months of further fundraising giving our family back invaluable time. Our heartfelt thanks to everybody involved. You may never fully appreciate the magnitude of what you have helped us achieve – but we do every single day.

Giving this family better access to transport makes the world of difference to their lives everyday and this is only possible thanks to WA Charity Direct members who pay an annual or monthly membership fee. Find out more here.
