On referral from Therapy Focus, WA Charity Direct learnt of a Mum and her young daughter who required a wheelchair accessible vehicle. The daughter who is permanently dependant on a wheelchair, attends several medical appointments each week, so a suitable vehicle was urgently required. WA Charity Direct provided the final funds for the family to purchase a suitable vehicle.
A regional family dealing with treatment for Blood Cancer, requested help from WA Charity Direct in a practical way – food vouchers and payment of utility invoices. During the 12-week chemotherapy treatment period, the recipient was unable to work making it difficult to manage household expenses. WA Charity Direct alleviated the financial pressure by clearing the expenses during this stressful time.
Public transport was becoming increasingly difficult for a local family who required numerous medical and community appointments on a weekly basis. WA Charity Direct assisted by providing a portion of the funds to purchase a suitable second hand vehicle.
On referral from a Member, WA Charity Direct assisted a Warnbro Family with driveway modifications to the family home. The driveway required widening to allow for improved access into the house and car to accommodate for the young daughter’s wheelchair.
WA Charity Direct provided 3 months mortgage repayments to give the Morgan Family some financial breathing space, whilst both Parents had to temporarily stop work due to receiving medical treatment for ongoing conditions.

WA Charity Direct had the opportunity again to support participants to attend the annual Deafblind Camp, hosted by Senses Australia.
In November 2016, WA Charity Direct contributed funding to assist 23 West Australian deafblind adults to attend the weekend camp held at the Ern Halliday Recreational Facility in Hillarys. The camp was an amazing success with lots of new experiences and friendships made.
The Starlight Children’s Foundation operates out of Princess Margaret Hospital and offers numerous In-Hospital social programs for the children to participate in. One such program is based in the Livewire space, which is a medical free haven for the teenage patients to hang out and enjoy some down time.
WA Charity Direct had the opportunity to enhance this environment and supplied 2 Apple Mac Books with video equipment plus 25 Smart Tablets. This donation has been enthusiastically welcomed by the young patients and provides some relief from their daily medical treatment.
Back in 2015, WA Charity Direct was introduced to Peel Youth Medical Services (PYMS). PYMS provides confidential free health services in a safe non-judgmental environment for young people aged 12 – 25 in the Mandurah and Peel region.
WA Charity Direct has continued to support this vital service with additional funding to facilitate a second day of mental health counselling.
WA Charity Direct welcomes any type of application, no matter how small.
Recently, WA Charity Direct made a big difference in a local gentleman’s daily activities by purchasing a pair of high performance hearing aids that were prescribed by a hearing care professional.
The ageing vehicle that the Ponting Family relied upon was no longer suitable for the numerous medical and therapy appointments required by the youngest daughter who is diagnosed with Dravet Syndrome (catastrophic epilepsy). Mum, Rebecca is constantly on call to ensure her daughter receives the medical attention when required.
WA Charity Direct assisted by providing the funds to purchase a reliable second hand vehicle.
