Nicole Pratt and her husband have custody of their 5 Grandchildren and have found that their small house in regional WA can no longer accommodate everyone adequately. To ease the overcrowding, the Pratt family purchased an outdoor shed for the rear yard with planning permission to provide extra living space for the older children.
Whilst the Pratt Family did as much as they could in regard to the internal fitout, some work did require the services of a professional. WA Charity Direct helped fund the internal fit out of the shed, by paying for the electrical and plumbing work.
The extra room has now provided the Pratt Family of 7 with an additional living space, which has greatly contributed to the comfort of the home.
Allan Austin has a long list of medical conditions, however his recent above the knee amputation has made daily activities difficult. As well as being dependant on a wheelchair, Allan is also legally blind and is cared for by his son in the family home.
To accommodate for the wheelchair, the bathroom required suitable modifications. After receiving a disability grant, WA Charity Direct provided the remaining funds to complete the bathroom. The modifications have allowed Allan to continue living at home and also the opportunity for him to manage his self care safely and independently.
